BLOGS by Robert SpellmanBRANDI CARLILE IN LONDONFriday November 30,2007 By Robert Spellman
Brandi recently played at the Gibson Guitar Rooms WHAT a treat my ears had the night before yesterday.
On a rainy London evening at the Gibson Guitar Rooms in the West End, Brandi Carlile, a 25-year-old singer-songwriter from Ravendale, WA, gave a dour-looking mob of journos and industry folk as good a blast of blatant rock’n’roll, rootsy balladry and wistful, finger-picking loveliness that they’ve probably had in ages. |

A FLYING AND GENTLE SPARROW.
05.01.2008, 8:29pm
When the last
lights of a sunrise
disappear behind
a melody I hear
the song of
a beautiful sparrow,
the sound of a
rank and the rising
beginning now
reflecting the pain.

PRUDENCE AND THE MELODY.
29.12.2007, 8:30pm
Arbours coloured
by a soft September
breeze delay in
the sunshine of a
beautiful morning,
and a loving
profile presents,
in a moment, the
taste of a dream.

THE INNER PART.
22.12.2007, 8:39pm
The inner light
and the beautiful
and tender narrator
invent a mutable
moment, when
Christmas arrives;
I see a blackbird
singing the birth
of an ancient era,
the time of my
life, the care and
the reason.

AT THE MERCY.
15.12.2007, 8:29pm
In the resonant
cypress situated,
like a trembling
leaf, in the breath
of a novel and
innocent morning,
a sparrow alights
and always, in the
sun’s redness, a
delicate flake
discovers a dream.

BREATHS AND BEAUTIFUL SOUNDS.
08.12.2007, 8:40pm
In the amazing
song of a little
blackbird chanting
alone in a beautiful
dream I hear
glimmers of magical
quietness, the love
for the dark and
a tender idea
recalling the silence.
