OILY SKIN? MOISTURISE!

Thursday November 27,2008

Oily skin? Moisturise!

Check out my top ten moisturisers for oily skin

I recently spent an evening at the gorgeous Neal’s Yard shop in Covent Garden chatting with their top skincare experts.

After a brief consultation about my skin problems I was told my entire regime was making my skin worse.

With combination skin I'm prone to dry patches when it's cold but my fringe gives me a greasy forehead - making me prone to spots and blemishes in problem areas.

My expert, Catherine, said that I needed to use a nice thick moisturiser (like their Frankincense Nourishing Cream, £16.50) to eliminate the grease.

Madness? Maybe not.

Catherine explained that by using products that dry my skin out my pores react by producing more oil to compensate.

So by using a moisturiser my skin would finally have the relief it needed and would stop producing excess oil.

After three weeks of applying this divine smelling cream my skin is glowing and my forehead is clear.

Free Eight Hour Cream!

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream

The good people at Elizabeth Arden are celebrating the date 08/08/08 by giving away free samples of Eight Hour Cream.

The skin-saving balm is the winner of 22 international beauty awards and has remained unchanged since its launch in 1930.

Legend has it that Miss Elizabeth Arden herself, who created the magic serum, named it after applying it to her own child’s grazed knee to find it healed eight hours later.

Today a tube is sold every two minutes in the UK and its name constantly dropped from the lips of the rich and famous.

Use your free sample on everything from cracked lips to dry elbows, eyebrows, cuticles, insect bites, windburn, sunburn, or as a gloss for lips, lashes and cheeks.

Get your sample on 08/08/08 (this Friday) from any Elizabeth Arden counter, while stocks last.

If you miss the date it's well worth investing in:

DITCH THE ORANGE FACE

Wednesday June 4,2008

By Nikki Barr

Ditch the orange face

Christina Aguilera is well known for her orange look

Orange may be in this season, but that doesn’t mean we should be opting for an oompa loompa look.

Winter tends to send us Brits into a depression, and with that comes a strange urge to smother our pasty selves with foundation that’s two tones darker than we need.

But now that summer is finally here it’s time to back away from the trowel and embrace your natural skin colour.

When you’re in the daylight go for a foundation with light coverage - anything too heavy will show up like a sore thumb.

Try Christian Dior Pure Light foundation (£23) for a great even coverage that catches and reflects light without heaviness.

When picking your shade, match the product to the skin tone between your jaw line and your neck rather than the back of your hand or wrist.

This area is your ‘true shade’ and you’ll have a better chance of getting the right tone.

If you’re still not sure then book yourself in for a free consultation at any good department store.

SPRING CLEAN FOR GLAM SUMMER FEET

Spring clean for glam summer feet

Take time to give your feet some TLC

WITH the summer weather hot on spring's heels, now is the time to whip those blistered and pale feet you have been hibernating in your pumps back into tip-toe shape.

Although we are already bouncing around the office in eager anticipation of rescuing our flip flops from the back of the wardrobe, we must not forget that our toots aren't as excited.

Because with the warm sunshine comes a plague of blisters from those evil straps our sexy warrior-woman Gladiators will be giving us.

Yet have no fear because I have found a way for you to wear your Gladiators and keep your feet sweet too.

Compeed’s Blister Plasters, £4.39 (they come in small, medium and toe size) are my favourite product of the year. Officially.

You can put these skin-coloured gel patches over any blister, regardless of whether they’ve burst, and they’ll stay put and even heal your sore spot.

These healing pads stay put for five days before they loosen themselves and leave you with healed skin underneath.

They’ve been the first product in years that have actually made it to the ‘limited-space- emergency-beauty-bag’ in my handbag.

And for all those faithful thong sand

Unfortunately it can take up to two days for a response, so make sure you plan ahead for that big evening out.

And if it’s all too complicated, don’t forget that all purchases made in-store get you a free consultation card.
